I’m going to be brave and tell you why I identify with the songs, as well as which songs I identify with. I went through clinical depression recently. I’m fine now fortunately. Anyway, I used to drink a lot during that time. I wasn’t an alcoholic or anything but I was getting drunk way more often than I should, but one day I was listening to the song “Sad Professor”, and I suddenly realized that what I was doing might be very bad for me. So that has personal meaning for me. “Leaving New York” does as well, because I interpret it as being about a breakup, from the point of view of the person who says “I’m going to leave you”. I had to break up with someone recently because she had a lot of personal problems and she expected me to solve them. I couldn’t handle the pressure. So when I had to be the one breaking up with her, and not the other way round, I felt a lot of guilt. I think that’s what “Leaving New York” is about, so I can identify with that. Also, “You are the Everything”, because the first verse reminds me of going to my grandma’s house. She lives about 3 hours away from where my parents live. I used to live there, obviously. So, when I was a kid and my dad still worked, we’d wait for him to finish work on Friday night, during the school holidays, and he’d drive my mum, my sister and I to my grandma’s house, in the dark, usually with the radio on. Finally, “Find the River” has personal meaning for me because it reminds me of how I felt when I was in my first year of university. I felt I was on a mission to “Find myself”, by living independently from my parents, for the first time. I feel the message of “Find the River” is kinda like “Find yourself. Find your own place in this world instead of just being one of the crowd.” _________________ You look at me like maybe I'm an angle underneath. Inocent and sweet.

I guess thats why we're all here. cause these songs remind us of things and have touched us deeply. I think Up and auto have the most meaning for me. _________________ Kick up the love baby, Down the hate |
