maybe this topic with give the forum a kick up the bum.
So what i didn't like about the album.
its been said by many that Accelerate sounded like their old stuff, and that is essentially what I didn't like. If I wanted to hear a record like Murmumr or Reckoning I would simply just go back and listen to them.
What i loved about Up,Reveal and Around the sun is that they are completly new. Its almost like as fans we're on a journey with these musicians who aren't quite sure where their going and we're there for the ride along with them. all those records were things that they never tried before.
For whats its worth Accelerate is a good album and I do enjoy it. I just hope REM aren't pegged and become stale with the "REM" sound. I would hate to see REM become like U2 and have that sorta same sound.
so come on kids, what do you think?

YAY!!! a reply!!
but for future reference could you disagree more and be confrontational, it might create a storm and bring people back here.
it is a good solid rock record. Maybe I wanted it too be really different. I have been listening to it more and its growing on me more.

To me, it's just as original sounding as Reveal or Up. |

I know what you mean... But you know, we're still on the ride with them - journey is not only exploring, sometimes you feel you need to go back to the place you liked... I guess they made the record sound like this just because they FELT it should be like this... They weren't like "Ok, it MUST be original, so..." 
(Am I disagreeing enough?  )

and thats why we love them!
you know since this topic started I've been listening to this album more and Ic an't get enough of it. my faveourite song is Mr.Richard.
